Luke sayings....

So.  Happy Thanksgiving.  Here is what I heard my son say today.  He is 2 yrs. 8 months old.

(in the back of the car coming home tonight)  "hey mommy.....I need a brother. "  "Oh you do?  How do you get one?  " I want a brother named Bo.  So I will go to Bo's house to get a brother.  It will be fun.  "

See you later mommy.  I need to go to work at the fire station and my school.  The fire station is my red school and my other school is green for GO school....and you can go to the yellow school.  "So, you mean you are going to a stoplight school?  "Yeah!  "

Hey!  S-T-O-P spells stop mommy.  Did you know that?

How COOL is that?

Holding a candlestick........hey if I turn it this way, it is like a seesaw!  Look mommy.  They have those at the park.  But....if I turn it this way, I can make it a rocket ship.  5,4,3,2,1 blast off!!!!  AND if I turn it this way, I can make a cool airplane.....see?

I am going to drive SQUAD 2 now.  Do you have the keys so I can open it?  I will be right back.

Erin:  You are smart for a little guy!  Luke:  No!  I am NOT a little guy.  I am A BIG BOY.  NOT little. Baby Layla is little.

Look mommy!  I just peed in the tree!  That was fun.  Can we do it again?

More and more to come.  This is what I could remember this late at night!

I love my little guy.  (last year on Thanksgiving...)

Happies of the week....

Luke and I bought Tim a big comfy leather chair for his promotion.  It's about time we have adult furniture.  We are almost there with the living room.....that is also making me happy.  Pretty soon there will be a house tour...lots and lots of progress on the house.  No kitchen cabinets yet, but I feel that it is sooner than later.  We will see..
In school we get to make all of these cutsy Thanksgiving crafts and art projects about the Pilgrims and Indians, the Mayflower, etc.  This has been so fun!
I am still so excited that we are allowed to memorize verses at school again.  I LOVE hearing my kids shout this in the mornings!  Good reminder for me each morning....

Luke's school pictures this year.  Oh my.....and I wasn't going to get them......I love them.  =)
This is the series of chapter books we have been reading to Luke at night.  Thanks to scholastic books and bonus points, I got this for his stocking at Christmas!  YAY!
Thanks to Susan for the fabric and a little red spray paint I now have adult art in my living room.  YAY!
more cute first grade art that makes me happy!
Normalpalooza went well too.  Glad that it is over, but it was really fun!  I have so many layers on in this picture!  It was freezing!

Luke finally got a haircut too.  YAY for mother in laws that cut hair!
This is Luke taking a nap in our room......thought this was funny.
What does a cool comfy chair come in?  Why a cool comfy box of course!  YAY to forts!  We are going to turn this box into a fire station.  of course.

More happies, but that is all of the pics that I have for now.  It's Friday tomorrow....and NEXT WEEK MY WHOLE FAMILY IS COMING!!!!  YAY!!!!!!!

So this week from Sunday to Sunday has been eventful and exhausting!  The exciting thing is that Tim got promoted to Sr. Firefighter and got elected as treasurer of the firefighters union too!  Luke loves to be at the station, and for a two yr old has a bigger understanding of what goes on there too...(most of the time better than his momma!)  Here is my conversation with him the other day when we went to visit Tim:

"hey mommy, the bay doors are down. do you think that daddy got a call?  Actually both bay doors are down so that means that the squad is not there either. oh, they are there!  Lets go hop on the usar truck so i can push all of the buttons.  Do you have the keys? i need to go get them from my daddy. my daddy drives the squad. i like quint 19 though. i saw it yesterday too. i want to make all of the flashing lights like daddy. mommy i need my fire boots. oh no we forgot them at home!  can i have the keys mommy so i can drive quint 19 now? please mommy?"

=)  Luke makes me laugh.

 cheers to firefighters!

Tribute to life

This morning in church we sang one of my favorite songs that I found this summer while stumbling upon great music.  But it is significant to me in another way too.  This is the last song that my beloved grandfather heard before he died two months ago.  It was our last conversation that we had before he ran to Jesus.  I cried in church this morning as I thought of him gracefully running to our heavenly father, with no pain, no wrinkles, a youthful grin on his face, to be with his heavenly daddy that has truly taken care of him all of these years.  I'm honored to know such a profound and gentle spirit who I learned peace and gentleness from.

My last conversation with him was simple and full of love.  I held his hand while he was resting in his bed that afternoon.  We talked about life and Luke lived life around him.  Luke sang to him I love you Lord and Jesus Loves Me.  My sweet cousins gave him a blessing of peace, each of them giving him hugs and kisses, knowing that it may be the last time they see him on earth.  Then it was my turn.  We talked about running and about Jesus.  I told him to run to Jesus and meet him with open arms for me.  I told him it was okay and that we loved him but GO!  Run to his arms with a smile!

Talk about thankful moments.  Talk about a moment that will change my life forever as I contemplate my own life.  Am I running to Jesus?  Am I running and while I am am I knowing the richness of his love that will always be enough?

I am blessed beyond belief to have a family who is rooted in Christ for generation after generation. I am blessed because even though I sin, I am forgiven deeply and it is forgotten. (thanks Pastor Frank for your words this morning) Luke has memorized 1 John 4:16 which says "GOD IS LOVE".  My two year old knows it.  Do I sometimes?

This is what I will ponder this week and hide in my heart.

Forever Reign, by Kristian Standfill

Verse 1
You are good You are good
When there’s nothing good in me
You are love You are love
On display for all to see
You are light You are light
When the darkness closes in
You are hope You are hope
You have covered all my sin

Verse 2
You are peace You are peace
When my fear is crippling
You are true You are true
Even in my wandering
You are joy You are joy
You’re the reason that I sing
You are life You are life
In You death has lost it’s sting

Chorus
Oh I’m running to Your arms
I’m running to Your arms
The riches of Your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

Verse 3
You are more You are more
Than my words will ever say
You are Lord You are Lord
All creation will proclaim
You are here You are here
In Your presence I’m made whole
You are God You are God
Of all else I’m letting go

(Repeat Chorus)

Bridge
My heart will sing
No other Name
Jesus
Jesus
